3 Pakenham Street; Crosby building?

Until recently this was used by a Commonwealth Government department. It is currently (2021) being transformed into the Republic of Fremantle tavern, gin distillery and micro brewery.
The Heritage Council page merely says that this is an inter-war commercial building. It also describes it as a: 'Two-storey rendered and painted brick building with bracketed cornice on a simple parapet. The façade has two entrances and a driving entrance with Colorbond door on the right side. The windows have a keystone finish to the first floor. The ground floor has metal-framed windows, probably not original.'

During renovations the name of a previous owner or tenant was briefly revealed above the doors: apparently William Crosby.
