Florence Park in South Fremantle is on the corner of Marine Terrace and what used to be Florence Street, named for Florence Jones. Florence married Sir Alexander Reid, after whom the Reid Library at UWA is named, and became Lady Florence. He was Chancellor of the University 1956-1968. The street is now named King William Street after a dead white male.
Fremantle Shipping News page for the park, from which the above photo is stolen. I suppose I might as well steal the text as well. I have a feeling I won't be prosecuted (even tho I'll correct it slightly).
FSN:
... at the corner of King William Street and Marine Terrace, South Fremantle, is a small, community, garden-like park which is perfect for pre-school-age kids, as well as bigger ones, and also their mums and dads, opas and omas. As the plaque there will tell you, the park was the inspired outcome of local community action. The same community continues to tend and maintain the park gardens which are watered by ‘grey water’ from the homes of neighbours. As one three-year-old was heard to say, this park is 'awesome'. The park includes a shaded sandpit and swings. It is an easy walk from South Terrace cafes or along Marine Terrace.
