The baron arrived in Fremantle on the Prinz Regent Luitpold in 1899, from Gelnhausen. According to Welcome Walls he managed the Bayswater Hotel in 1901 & managed the Star Hotel in Fremantle in 1904. He bought land in Hope Road, Jandakot & ran a piggery there in 1908. There is a street in Atwell named after him. Albert took up farming at Wubin in 1912 & died at Dalwallinu, January 1942.
The street in Atwell is called Carlhausen Close, spelling the name wrongly.
